How long have I been around? Well let’s just say that when I took my first EMT class they didn’t have any books so we used a cross between the Bureau of Mine Safety and The American Red Cross. The PA Department of Health EMT Patch wasn’t even trademark registered yet. We parked the hearse but still used the Caddy’s!! My “Tools” of the trade as related to the fire service can now be found in the Smithsonian e.g. Chemox, Rubber jackets, etc. I learned vehicle rescue directly from the then “Masters” Bob Murray and Harvey Grant, but then I continued to learn and still do today almost 32 years later. If the day ever comes that I don’t learn something new, then it’s time to step down.
